So last week, we discussed dry skin and the factors behind this condition.

I specifically used the term "dry skin" rather than eczema, dermatitis..etc;

because i wanted to include everyone who suffers from the condition.

So now i will give you my top three CURRENT choices for a moisturizer:

Drum roll.....

Third position ;

Urea-based moisturizers

Urea is a natural compound in our body’s moisturizing system encouraging the skin to absorb moisture.  A few brands out there have this compound as part of their moisturizing range.

Second position

Shea butter/coconut/cocoa butter

Typically these are fat-based moisturizers which are great for “sealing off” the skin by forming a nice protective layer; helping the skin keep its moisture.

First position

Hyaluronic acid

An incredible compound.  Again it is compound naturally present in our skin.  What makes it incredible is it’s ability to carry water.  Some research has shown it can carry up to 500 times its own weight in water.  So it’s like having a water hose pumping your skin!

However, its not all good news.  Hyaluronic acid is quite a large compound so getting it into the skin can be tricky.  Sort of like trying to fit an awkward sofa through a narrow door.  Therefore you really have to make sure the formulation is perfect.

Notice how my top 3 are all compounds which are naturally part of our skin or compounds directly extracted from natural fruits/nuts.  I like to stick to what nature has provided.

till next time
